Patrick Valentine

Patrick Valentine, Director of the Wilson County Public Library came to the Club to talk about recent upgrades to the library. In addition to more room, which is immediatelty obvious when you enter, some changes such as no books are on the upper and lower shelves. This make it easier for all users and also leaves plenty of room for growth.

Patrick also promoted the upcoming Book Sale after a couple of years hiateous.

WRC Members asked some questions concerning budgeting, book aquisition, the multimedia selections, and future growth.

We must have scared Patrick with our questions because he announced his retirement one week later. In all sincerity thank you Patrick for speaking to the club and for your leadership, dedication, and professionalism as our librarian.

Wilson Human Relations Director Speaks to WRC

Veronica Creech, Director of the Human Relations Division for the City of Wilson spoke to the club to update us on the progress of the important work being done by her group. Veronica has many qualifications, but the two I found to be the most impressive was that she went to Thomasville High School and went to undergraduate at UNC-Greensboro. So to me Veronica is almost family having lived in my "neck of the woods" and tramped in my fading foot prints at the best liberal arts university in North Carolina -- Go Spartans!

The Dictionary Project Needs You!

As August is upon us so is the need to be wrapping up our contributions for the Dictionary Project. Click the link here to get a Dictionary Contribution Form.

At a minimum, every Wilson Rotary Club Member should contribute to this project.

Remember we are making a difference in the lives of our third graders. For the majority of them, this is their very first book to own. For some this is their first "grown up" book. Look what impact Wilson Rotary Club will have through you!

I can remember Mrs. Bulla giving me my very first book on animals at the age of 5. These children will remember you.
