Dr. Rusty Stephens discusses plans for WTCC expansion

Dr. Rusty Stephens, a valued member of our club and president of Wilson Technical Community College, gave the presentation at the Wilson Rotary Club today. Rusty, he gave me permission to drop the formality as is customary in Rotary, discussed the plans for expansion at WTCC and the need for this growth.

Rusty reminds us that it was Thomas Jefferson that had the vision for the community college system by having a place of learning within a day of riding a horse for everyman. In North Carolina we are very close with our community college system.

Rusty also discussed the need for our local college to expand since we are literally to the point where we may have to turn students away. Given the need to train our citizens to be ready to work in the future workforce it is vital that we make room and develop programs that are interlocked with the growing need of our workers and industry that will locate in the area.

Rusty is also to be commended for his insights on developing the new buildings as "green buildings."

Thank you Dr. Stephens for sharing your insights with the club and for what you do to make WTCC the success it continues to be.
