Dictionary Project

A the Monday, September 19 meeting the Wilson Rotary Club pasted Book Plates in the front of the Student Dictionary's in preparation of delivery to every third grade student in Wilson County.

Special thanks are to be extended to all of those that contributed funds or got someone else to contribute funds to the project. A big thanks to Billy Lamm for storing and moving the dictionaries from place to place.

A big hand and pat on the back for Jolly Barnes ! You did a great job and the children of our community are better for your efforts.

On the next Friday, Fred Horne and I met for breakfast and headed over to Elm City Elementary School. We met with Ms. Woodard (3rd Grade Lead Teacher) to distrubute dictionaries to three classes at ECES. Fred and I had a great time and we incorporated the WCS Character Education Program, AJ Rightway, into the dictionary presentation by having the children look up one of AJ's words, RESPECT and having a student read the meaning aloud.

Fred and I also lead the children through some of the other cool elements of the book, such as the Constitution, World Maps, and of course some science, the planets.

The children enjoyed writing their name in the book and to a student all we excited that this was their book.

I must say I am so proud to be a part of this effort and it is one of the best projects I have ever been a part of.
